This is the only live footage of Lee Michaels on Youtube. Lee was the only rock organ player to play with just a drummer, playing bass with his feet. His style was inimitable. He was undeniably the most aggressive of all the rock organists. He attacked the keyboard somewhat viciously, played on the lower octaves with the Hammond B-3 drawbar settings with all the stops pulled out. He had a great feeling for the blues and recorded the best cover of Stormy Monday ever.

Ah...the good old days that I was too young to take advantage of at the time.
That Basie band swinging with Frank fronting it.....nothing better.
Boy we have really hit rock bottom with what passes as "night club entertainment" in this smoking ban era.
Karaoke....DJs....
A milquetoast world.

When she isn't performing percussion with the Columbus Symphony, Linda Dachtyl plays the Hammond B3 organ.
She has released For Hep Cats with members of her LDB3 jazz quartet.
Allow her to tell you about it:
Q What does the music on your new album sound like?
A Blues-drenched soul-jazz from start to finish, including everything from the gutbucket basics to developed orchestrations touching on various swing and Latin styles.
Q Why does your band exist?
A I have played the B3 since I was a teenager and decided around 2000 to just forget about all the obvious problems in transporting it. For years I searched for the right, sensible 30-pound . . . (synthesizer) to emulate the B3 and always came up short on that, no matter how much the technology has improved over the years.
There's nothing like playing the real thing, and I enjoy every minute of it.
Q What is your favorite quote about the group?
A Fritz "the Nite Owl" (Peerenboom) of WJZA (103.5/104.3 FM) said this in his review in the Short North Gazette:
"Linda is superb in every department, on every track. Her solos soar; her unison playing is tight; her supporting fills like Baby Bear's porridge: not too hot, not too cold but just right!"
